Secret Family Recipes & A Total Transformation
Every so often we come across a project that reminds us of exactly why we do what we do – and that is quite simply to bring joy to people’s homes. After Heather and Kelvin’s daughter Charmaine renovated her kitchen with Wood Wizards, it wasn’t long before they also invited us to give their family home a makeover. And what a transformation it was…
Their kitchen, which had been loved and lived in for many years needed a little tender loving care. Donning 70s vibe cabinetry and a slightly unconventional layout, the family wanted to overhaul the space to open it up and make it work for them – both functionally and aesthetically.
By cleverly re-configuring the plan, the kitchen now takes up less space, while simultaneously providing more… as if by magic. Stretching the length of the room, the WK Quantum Quartz Michelangelo benchtops are a true statement piece, with their unique natural variation and one of a kind veins delicately weaving together like tapestry.
The kitchen may scream out minimal simplicity, but don’t be fooled, there is ample storage. Mirroring the doors above, a wall of custom Polytec Thermolaminated Guilford profile (in Classic White Gloss) drawers and cupboards has been added to make reaching for utensils a breeze when cooking. Cabinetry throughout the kitchen is a mix of sleek handleless doors and statement stainless steel Kethy Roma handles, to ensure practicality is prioritised - without compromising on design. But the magic doesn’t stop there...
Hafele LED strip lights have been elegantly integrated to bring a subtle glowing hue to the space, that is both warming and inviting (as well as useful!).
This is a modern kitchen in every sense of the word, with Heather and Kelvin’s space packed with the latest mod-cons in appliances too. Their enviable Franke sink is only matched in desirability by their Neff appliances, which these days are on most people’s wish list. Imagined, designed and built by people who are passionate about food, Neff’s products help cooks to achieve perfect baking, roasting and cooking results… and who could say no to that?
This was even more fitting given the discoveries we found in our kitchen renovation journey. Tucked away, covered in dust and almost forgotten, we were lucky enough to uncover some family treasures… cookbooks from generations past with recipes over 50 years old.
From Passionfruit Pie to Plum Pudding and a classic Lunch Cake, it was a clear that the family had a talented cook who was determined to pass down scrumptious secrets. We felt truly honoured to share the special moment with Heather and Kelvin and it is one that we won’t forget.
Bringing this kitchen to life in Elsternwick was a truly collaborative project, which involved Heather, Kelvin and the wizards creating a design and layout that gave the heart of their home the love it needed… and well, the results speak for themselves. It’s a stunningly modern kitchen transformation that we’re proud to add to our portfolio.
